Reinforcement in biology is sometimes referred to, incorrectly, as the Wallace Effect. Although both concepts are important to the evolution of new species, there are basic conceptual differences. To understand reinforcement in biology, it is necessary to understand the concept of the Wallace Effect, as well as a the process of "speciation," meaning the development of a new species.
